UFC 118 Preview:Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger

Joe Lauzon and Gabe Ruediger will square off in a fight scheduled to take place at the UFC 118 event. This fight will be a big fight for each of these fighters as they try to prove themselves against each other. This event will take place on the preliminary card. UFC 118 is scheduled to take place in Boston, Massachusetts.

There was originally supposed to be a different fighter to take on Lauzon. Lauzon was scheduled to fight against Terry Etim. Unfortunately Etim was forced to withdraw from the fight for unknown purposes.

This means that Ruediger will be taking on Lauzon on short notice. There are questions as to whether or not Ruediger will be ready for the fight without proper preparations.

Ruediger has had a significant amount of success in his MMA career. He has managed to win 17 out of his 22 career matches. With this much experience it is likely that he will know how to get himself ready for the big match even with short notice. Ruediger has won his last several matches and looks to put his skills to the test in the UFC. He is very popular in the sports betting online.

Lauzon is coming off of a recent defeat against Sam Stout. Stout managed to take home the victory by decision. This defeat will not sit well with Lauzon and you can expect him to come with all that he’s got to prove that he can bounce back from a little trouble. This match should be a good one as these two solid fighters square off.

Kendall Grove vs. Goran Reljic – UFC 116 – Preview – Middleweight bout

At UFC 116, Kendall Grove and Goran Reljic will fight against each other. On July 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the event will be taking place. This middleweight bout is not extremely exciting in comparison to others that are slated to take place, but you never know what you’ll get in the UFC.

To this point, UFC 116 odds star, Kendall Grove has struggled in his MMA career. He has never been able to perform at the level that he would have liked to, although he has posted an above average record (11-7). His opponent, Goran Reljic, has seen a lot of success, in his relatively young career (8-1-1 career record) and he will be a tough draw for him

For Grove, many people see this fight as a “win or go home” type of match. It is expected that he will lose his spot in the UFC for the time being, if he does not win. That being said, this may not be the most favorable matchup for him. Goran Reljic does not look like a good draw for Grove and he is a stellar standup fighter.

Reljic has produced some submission victories as well, although he is not only a powerful striker. He is a tough fighter to crack because of his well-rounded nature. There will be some questions around him though, as Reljic did not fight for 2 years until fairly recently.

There is still a fight to be fought, despite the feeling that Reljic is the favorite. Many people believe that Grove will come out stronger than most expect him to in this fight and the history and technique of these two fighters will not matter.

MMA – Strikeforce: Robbie Lawler vs. Renato Sobral Review

On Wednesday, June 16th, Strikeforce presented a fight between “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler and Renato “Babalu” Sobral. This was thought to be a classic clash of styles, as Lawler is a striker and Sobral is great on the ground. Instead, it turned in to a stand-up battle that ended with Sobral taking a unanimous decision, 29-28.

In the first round, Sobral managed to take Lawler down twice, but he was unable to keep him there. Once they were back on their feet, Sobral tried to stay close to Lawler by tying up in the clinch. Sobral did a great job varying his strikes, throwing both punches and kicks.

Sobral connected with a hard body kick seconds into the second round. Lawler managed to connect with several hard shots, but Sobral landed a vicious shot to the body that sent Lawler stumbling backward. As the round went on, Sobral continued to work Lawler’s body, mixing up punches and kicks, leaving Lawler’s left side purple.

In the third round, Lawler came out aggressive and looking to finish. He followed Sobral around the cage, looking for a big punch, but he never found it. Sobral nailed him with a few more shots to the body, but Lawler clearly won the third round.

All in all, any MMA fan watching the fight had to be entertained. Both fighters showed up for a war, and they delivered. In the end, Sobral’s footwork and kicks won out, but it was still a great showing for both guys.

Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow – UFC 114 – Heavyweight Bout

At UFC 114, the undefeated heavyweight Todd Duffee will return to the cage to fight another up and coming heavyweight in Mike Russow on May 29. In Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, The fight is scheduled to take place. Todd Duffee is an American Top Team heavyweight and had first come into the UFC at the UFC 102 fight in 2009. Duffee is 23 years old and in his career has an impressive record of 6-0. He is a heavy hitter and had finished all of his fights by way of technical knockouts.

In September, he has beaten some impressive opponents including Assuerio Silva and his most famous knockout was the seven-second bout he had when he knocked out Tim Hague. He can be a real wrecking machine if he isn’t contained and has a hulking frame.

UFC betting favorite, Mike Russow, Duffee’s opponent, also has a lot to bring to this match. He has a solid record of 12-1 and the only bout that he lost was all the way back in 2007 at Pride 33, when Sergei Kharitonov caught him in a submission hold.

Russow, by taking his game to the ground, is looking to extend his winning streak. He is a threat when the fight gets on the mat and is known for his impressive wrestling skills. He has been a student of Matt Hughes, who is the welterweight champion and was his college wrestling coach.

As both big men try to exploit the weaknesses of the other, look for this to be a great match.

UFC 114: Melvin Guillard vs. Waylon Lowe

Melvin Guillard and Waylon Lowe will fight at UFC 114 on May 29th. Thiago Tavares had initially been penciled in to matchup against Guillard but sustained an injury. This opened to door for Waylon Lowe.

Waylon Lowe will be fighting in his first ever UFC match on May 29th. His professional record is 8-2 thus far. Lowe is known for his wrestling skills, but has never been able to make the big stage, failing to make the final cast in his attempt to work onto “The Ultimate Fighter 9.”

Melvin Guillard is a UFC veteran. This will be his 11th match in the UFC. His career record to date is 23-8-2 with a record of 6-4 in the UFC. Melvin Guillard is known as a striker, but has handled the grappling style of fighters very well as of late. He has won all but one of his last fight matches against fighters that he has been dealt.

Waylon Lowe is solid, but his skills will be put to the test as Guillard is easily the best fighter that he has faced in his career. Look for Guillard to come out aggressive against Lowe as he is new to this level of fighting. Lowe’s skills will be tested early and often in this match.

Guillard’s experience will be tough for Lowe to overcome. Lowe will try to bring the fight to the ground early and set the pace of the match. If Lowe can get Guillard to the ground early he may be able to take control of the fight.
